- How do I maximize my JoikuSpot Premium connection speed?
- When you want to maximize your Joikuspot connection speed, contact your operator for a higher speed mobile data plan, preferably with flat rate. Some operators already offer for example 2-5 Mb flat rate data plans with unlimited data transfer. This way your JoikuSpot connection is fast and carefree also when you have several devices connected. JoikuSpot is much faster than e.g. USB modems due to the fact that mobile phones have better antennas. And compared to Bluetooth, Wi-Fi (WLAN) connection can offer much greater bandwidth and speed serving multiple users in parallel.
- What are the supported phone models?
- S60 devices (3rd ed and 5th ed): See the compatible models on the right side of the page.
- Linux Edition supports only Nokia N900 for the moment.
- Windows Mobile: Click here.
- Are there any costs to use JoikuSpot?
- You will be charged by your network operator for the mobile data you transfer with your JoikuSpot Internet sessions. We recommend you to have an unlimited (flat rate) high speed mobile data plan with your network operator.
- For issues in JoikuSpot connectivity, read the points below and view the detailed JoikuSpot FAQ here.
- Check that you have the latest firmware in your phone and proper WLAN drivers.
- Check that you are using the normal INTERNET access point for JoikuSpot; WAP, MMS, etc. access points will not work. Operator's Internet access point is typically called "Operator X Internet".
- Check that you have only one JoikuSpot Premium installation on your phone, remove earlier ones, especially betas.
- Check that your laptop or other connecting device (e.g. iPod, WLAN camera) allows ad hoc WLAN connections.
- Check that there is no firewall or other antivirus program in your phone preventing the connection creation.
- Check that in your phone there is no other program that reserves the WLAN for itself (e.g. Email, SIP, VoIP, Messenger client).
- Check that there is no other interfering WLAN basestation in very close proximity with your JoikuSpot device.
- How do I upgrade my JoikuSpot Premium to the latest version?
- Download the latest version of JoikuSpot Premium S60 Edition here. The license key obtained from JoikuShop will work. Remember to uninstall previous version first.
- If you have been using operator customized JoikuSpot your license key isn't transferable to this JoikuSpot release. Updates to customized operator variants may become available later through the operator.
- Please note that if you have used the preinstalled JoikuSpot in N97 or N97 mini, you are not able to use the link for updating. Updates to the preinstalled JoikuSpot come through the firmware update.
